Mark Zuckerberg announces Meta’s new large language model LlaMA impulsing Big Tech’s AI.

Unveiling a state-of-the-art foundational large language model designed to help researchers advance their work in this subfield of AI

According to Meta – LLaMA is an auto-regressive language model, based on the transformer architecture. The model is a collection of foundation language models and comes in different sizes: 7B, 13B, 33B and 65B parameters. The models are trained on trillions of tokens and show that it is possible to train state-of-the-art models using publicly available datasets exclusively without resorting to proprietary and inaccessible datasets. In particular, LLaMA-13B outperforms GPT-3 (175B) on most benchmarks, and LLaMA-65B is competitive with the best models, Chinchilla70B and PaLM-540B. We release all our models to the research community.

But what is a State-of-the-art model?

State-of-the-art models are the most advanced and effective models in a given field or application. These models are typically based on the latest research and development, and they have achieved the best performance to date in addressing a particular problem or challenge.

State-of-the-art models are often used in artificial intelligence and machine learning applications, where they are used to solve complex problems such as image recognition, natural language processing, and autonomous driving. These models use sophisticated algorithms and deep neural networks to learn from large amounts of data, enabling them to make highly accurate predictions and decisions.

The LlaMA model is intended to help scientists and engineers explore applications for AI, such as answering questions and summarizing documents.

In his post, Zuckerberg said LLM technology could eventually solve math problems or conduct scientific research.

“LLMs have shown a lot of promise in generating text, having conversations, summarizing written material, and more complicated tasks like solving math theorems or predicting protein structures,” Zuckerberg wrote on Friday. Source CNBC, Meta
