(Reuters) Executive Chairman Axel Dumas told shareholders on Wednesday that Hermes (HRMS.PA) is exploring embracing the metaverse for communications, even though the creator of Birkin bags and other luxury items remains focused on craftsmanship.
He described the metaverse as “strange and interesting,” adding that it may be a helpful communication tool.
After family shareholders opted to freeze 54 percent of Hermes capital, held by the holding company H51, until at least 2041, officials signaled plans to retain a long-term outlook for production and other objectives during the firm’s annual shareholder meeting on Wednesday.
“Bringing this to life will take collaboration and cooperation across companies, developers, creators and policymakers.”
